Gillian Holmes is a filmmaker and actor based in the NYC-metro area, which is a cooler and more impressive way of saying that she lives in New Jersey.

Her most recent project is the short film Alan Builds a Fire, which is currently in post-production. Prior to that, she wrote and starred in Toss-Up, a 2019 official selection of New York Shorts International Film Festival, Jersey City Golden Door International Film Festival, and Hoboken International Film Festival (Best of the Fest nominee).

Her earlier film work includes Late for Brunch (Best Original Score in the Top Shorts Online Film Festival), the 2017 proof-of-concept short for Here Comes Mary (her feature currently in development), and a couple of other projects that can be found in various corners of the internet.

She started writing plays when she was interning at New Dramatists in 2013. Her first play Maude Goes to Sleep had two developmental readings at Luna Stage. Her play Invisible Person (alan builds a fire) was produced by Walking in Space Productions at the Treehouse Theater in NYC. She has built and performed in a number of  ensemble-devised pieces, including past/TENSE with Robert Woodruff.

Gillian co-founded Band Name Pictures with Allison Andresini and Ryan Yannalfo. They’ve produced all of the films she’s written (plus much more) since its inception in the spring of 2017. Learn more here.
